Overview of Kilima Camp Masai Mara

Under velvety skies on the edge of the Oloololo escarpment in the Mara sits Kilima Camp with an eagle’s eye view over the best wildlife show on earth.

Gold Eco-friendly tented camp, luxurious tented camp, renovated in 2019 & 2020. 12 Classic tents (70m² including veranda) & 3 Deluxe tents (75-85m² including veranda).

Some Classic tents can accommodate 2 adults & 2 children below 12yrs. Deluxe Family tent can accommodate 2 adults & 2 children plus infant – possibility to add an extra bed – subject to availability.

All tents have a terrace with stunning views over the Mara plains. They all have an en-suite bathroom with flushed toilets & a hot running shower. Temperatures can be chilly at night & early morning. Heating up during the day to up to 32 degrees in the hot season (December – February). The Mara is superb to visit all year round. The dry season is between December – February. Rainy season in April & May.

Eco-tourism Kenya has awarded a Gold Medal to Kilima Camp in July 2018. The Eco-friendly camp performed well in most of the assessment criteria: efforts to reduce the facility’s ecological footprint by design and forestation, extensive use of solar energy, water conservation & having clear benefits to the local community including supporting the Maasai cultural village.

Activities

• Day and evening game drives (until 10 pm)
• Guided Bush Walks
• Cultural visits (village, market, local school during term time)
• Sundowners and bush meals
• Hot air balloon safaris (bookings must be made in advance, and this is an additional cost)

Access

Masai Mara is 260 km from Nairobi and takes 5 ½ hours drive by road and 40 minutes by air.

Transfer from the airstrip to the camp takes 20 minutes.

The airstrip is serviced by:

• Safarilink – from Nairobi twice daily
• Air Kenya – from Nairobi twice daily
• Charter flights as scheduled

Climate

Mainly humid, with temperatures averaging 26°C during the day and 12°C at night.  Long rains are anticipated from mid-April to May and short rains from November to early December.
