Overview of Governors Camp
Governors’ Camp Collection is the pioneer of the luxury safari experience having created Governors’ Camp on the banks of the Mara River as early as 1972. Each of our award-winning properties is located in the very best wildlife locations that East Africa has to offer. When you stay with us, you can rest assured that you are fully immersed in the heart of the action, in the best game viewing areas of the Masai Mara, Laikipia, and the Great Rift Valley in Kenya – as well as the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for gorilla trekking.
Our award-winning camps all have Covid-compliant licenses to safely operate and our staff is vaccinated against Covid-19. With Governors’, you can enjoy your safari secure in the knowledge that you are within our ‘Covid-safe bubble’ which includes our properties, staff, cars, balloons, and flights!
In Kenya and Rwanda, we’re pleased to offer in-camp Covid testing arrangements for our guests, to make your trip a whole lot easier.

- Hot air balloon safaris (bookings must be made in advance, and this is an additional cost)
Access
Masai Mara is 260 km from Nairobi and takes 5 ½ hours drive by road and 40 minutes by air.
Transfer from the airstrip to the camp takes 20 minutes.
The airstrip is serviced by:
- Safarilink – from Nairobi twice daily
- Air Kenya – from Nairobi twice daily
- Charter flights as scheduled
Climate
Mainly humid, with temperatures averaging 26°C during the day and 12°C at night. Long rains are anticipated from mid-April to May and short rains from November to early December.
